Pearl Jam rocked a packed and sold out Hampton Coliseum on April 18th with three adrenaline-charged hours of their hit songs spanning the band's 25-year career.

Vedder appeared on stage at 8:30 p.m. carrying a bound notebook as his four band mates followed and took their positions. Vedder saluted the crowd with a bottle of red wine, and then sprung into “Why Go” from its monumental 1991 debut Ten.

Mike McCready, lead guitar was smack dead in front of me – the guy does not stand still! With his impressive high jumps, rock star posing he performs with more energy than I could dare muster in an entire day!!

Eddie and all band members’ energy throughout the entire show was highly impressive! At one point, Eddie climbed down to the crowd and let them hold him high as he belted out and the audience sang along. A fan threw him a Sanders/Warren ’16 hat that he wore as the entire audience sang Happy Birthday to a crew member.

Not wanting to leave any concertgoer out the entire band turned to face the back to play “Elderly Woman. Vedder also played Clarence the ukulele during the song, “Sleeping by Myself,” off the Lightning Bolt album, in his solo acoustic set.

They all took a moment to address that the band announced earlier that they would not be playing their previously scheduled show in Raleigh on April 20 due to the controversial Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act . Front man Eddie Vedder addressed the crowd at the Hampton show about the cancellation in Raleigh saying "It was a hard process because we thought we could still play and make things right and we could fortify all the people on the ground working to repeal this despicable law.”

High-energy songs like “Black,” (my favorite) and “Alive,” were saved for the end of the show, with the fist-pumping fans showing no signs of wavering in their energy. The band certainly did not disappoint and gave fans their money’s worth. Sidenote… Vitalogy Foundation Donations - $3 USD from each Pearl Jam concert ticket sold goes to Vitalogy Foundation to support non-profit organizations doing commendable work in the fields of community health, the environment, arts and education and social justice.
