Fenway Park                                     Boston, MA.  August 5, 2016

Pearl Jam recently played two sold out shows at Fenway Park on a hot summers night.  Fans were coming from all world for this show.  I was talking with fans from Germany, Sweden and all over the United States before the show began.  I have never seen Pearl Jam in concert and I was looking forward to checking them out.  I have friends that have seen them over 20 times, so I knew that this had to be a great show to see, right?

The band took the stage and played almost a three hour set which encompassed 32 songs from their very large catalog of hits.  Fans went crazy when the band took to the stage and were singing at the top of the lungs right along with the band.  There was not one person sitting during this show. Eddie Vedder would take sips of wine from the wine bottle he brought out with him on stage. It was a real party atmosphere.

It was haunting to hear Black played live and it sent chills down my spine.  I also enjoyed hearing “Release”, “Even Flow”, “Alive”, “I Am Mine” and “Corduroy”.  They also performed several covers such as “Masters of War”, “I am a Patriot”, “Society”, “Comfortably Numb”, “Draw the Line”, “I’ve Got a Feeling” and my favorite, “Baba O’Riley”.

A couple of special guests were brought out on the stage to either sing or play with the band.  Two being Bronson Arroyo, who played guitar during “Black”, and Kevin Youkilis, who brought a Yukalaylee and shared some wine with Eddie.  Fans were going crazy when these two former Red Sox stars took to the stage.  It was a nice added touch.

I can see why people are such fans of this group.  While you are at a show, the band makes you feel like you are a part of the show.  I went to the show as a casual fan and left as a big fan of the band.  I will make sure to catch a show when the band is in my area again.
