Fans of all ages packed into The NorVA in Norfolk, VA on Friday, November 11th, filling the floor and balcony for the SOLD OUT platinum selling recording artist Cole Swindell!!
Opening up the night was the energetic, Georgia native Jon Langston, who performed an hour long high energy set list consisting of a healthy mix of his own songs that included- “Rolling In Rockin' Out”, “Cigarettes and Me” and “Forever Girl”. Langston also performed a few fan favorites such as a cover of Tim McGraw's “Something Like That” but nothing struck the crowd on such a day as Veteran's Day as much as Langston's cover of Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” – the crowd belted along with every beat and ended with an audience member waving an American Flag.
The NorVA was filled with so much pride and excitement – the crowd was definitely ready for Georgia born, Cole Swindell!
Swindell took the stage wearing his signature “CS” black baseball hat, jeans and a black Randy Travis shirt. opening with “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” and his incredibly infectious smile. Swindell played an incredible 16 set song list including the song that started it all and his very first No. 1 song, “Chillin’ It”, as well as “Chevrolet DJ”, “Ain't Worth The Whisky”, “Let Me See Ya Girl” and the emotionally gut wrenching favorite of mine… “You Should Be Here”. That song never fails to give me a lump in the back of my throat and tears in my eyes…seeing and hearing it live made the emotion even that much more raw and real.
Reminiscing back to the last time he was at The NorVA and selling merchandise for Luke Bryan, the super successful songwriter Swindell sat on a stool with his lead guitarist next to him and played snippets from the songs that he had written for other artists such as Luke Bryan’s hits “Roller Coaster”, Thomas Rhett’s “Get Me Some Of That” and Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll.”
Cole was mesmerizing and very entertaining. Definitely worth the whiskey!! If you haven’t gotten your tickets to check out Cole Swindell on his Down Home Tour — get on that!
Don’t just take it from me- here is a viewer's thoughts of the show… “I've been to multiple Cole Swindell concerts, twice in Richmond and the third time at the NorVa. Cole is such a great performer and to me he engages with the audience very nicely. On Friday night, he sang songs off his current album, his older albums, and he even sang choruses of songs that he has written for other artists; that was really neat. I really do enjoy the vibe at The NorVa, especially Cole Swindell's sold out show! If you've never seen him perform live, I highly recommend it!”
